        On November 7-8, the 3rd Power Generation Side Energy Storage Technology Commercialization Application Forum hosted by Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI) was held in Changxing, Zhejiang. Guangzhou Zhiguang Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. (Zhiguang Energy Storage) attended, sharing the insights on application and project construction of the power generation.


        At the meeting, Jiang Xinyu, Executive Vice President of Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., Ltd. and Chairman of Zhiguang Energy Storage attended the launch ceremony of the Solid-State Battery Energy Storage Technology and Industry Innovation Alliance, representing the founding units of the alliance.

        In recent years, solid-state battery technology has made significant breakthroughs, attracting widespread attention in renewable energy sector. CERI, in collaboration with universities, research institutes, and enterprises including Zhiguang Energy Storage, Beijing Welion New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University, established the Solid-State Battery Energy Sotrage Technology and Industry Innovation Alliance. This alliance aims to accelerate the development and industrial upgrading of solid-state battery energy storage technology, foster a sustainable industrial ecology, and support the national energy strategies.

        The roundtable session on Energy Storage Technology Routes on the Power Generation Side, hosted by Liu Mingyi, Director of the Energy Storage Technology Department of CERI, and featured Zhiguang Energy Storage, a leader in cascaded high-voltage energy storage technology. Jiang Xinyu, alongside industry experts and attending representatives, discussed the selection and application of Zhiguang’s energy storage technology on the power generation.

        Many energy storage products utilize photovoltaic technology, where photovoltaic cells can be directly connected in parallel, forming a current source type. In contrast, electrochemical batteries are voltage source types with relatively low internal resistance. When used in parallel, these batteries can generate circulating currents, impacting the long-term revenue of the energy storage power stations. Moreover, the premature aging of some battery cells can shorten the overall service life of other cells in the power stations.

        From the perspective of grid compatibility and long-term operation, the battery series-one-cluster-one-management technology enhances battery utilization, reduces failure rate, and improves overall efficiency and safety of the power stations. From the perspective of power, future high-power single-machine energy storage systems will offer simple regulation and rapid response to support grid needs. The 35kV High-Voltage Direct-Mounted Energy Storage System provides advantages such as grid-friendly integration, economical investment and construction, and lifecycle safety. Under the leadership of CERI, we have addressed key technical challenges, and enabling the large-scale application of this system in new energy stations in Inner Mongolia and Qinghai, achieving excellent operational results and high recognition from the owner units.

        Industry colleagues gather in Changxing to discuss the promising future of energy storage development. As opportunities and challenges coexist in new energy market, persistent and diverse innovation is essential in energy storage technology, jointly building the road of energy storage in Changxing, and working together to build a new power system with new energy as the mainstay and achieve the dual carbon goal.
